To provide education, information, resources, and a supportive networking environment for creative individuals and small business owners interested in the craft of writing or the publishing process.
The Writers & Publishers Network was formed in 1995 to promote an interest in art and literature, to encourage creative expression, and to help those interested in the literary arts connect with others for educational purposes and mutual support. The founders' goal was to use new internet technology to connect people across the country. Originally named the Small Publishers, Artists, and Writers Network, the name was changed in 2020.
In 2014, the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing (PIPW) was merged into WPN. With this consolidation, Kathleen Kaiser moved the 805 Writers Conference and series of PIPW webinars to WPN.
In 2023, the Independent Writers of Southern California (IWOSC) and the Publishers Association of Los Angeles (PALA) were merged into WPN. IWOSC had served writers for over 40 years. Their educational programming was added to WPN offerings, creating events happening three to four times a month.
The Writers & Publishers Network is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Learn about our Board of Directors.WPN membership dues are $99 annually. Students with an appropriate ID have reduced dues of $25 per year. Members receive the monthly WPNews newsletter, as well as access to the meaty, monthly WPN Insider, a free listing in the Member Directory, discounts or free registration for seminars and workshops, and the opportunity to list their works in the WPN Catalog of Member Books and Services and to join WPN in book festivals throughout the year. Members also receive discounts if they wish to join any of WPN’s Affiliate Partners.
