Paula Gail Benson on behalf of the Palmetto Chapter of Sisters in Crime and the Southeastern Chapter of Mystery Writers of America, invited me to be on a panel to discuss short stories from an editor’s point of view – how to make your story memorable to the editor even if you’re rejected. Zoom seems to always have a few glitches to get the adrenaline flowing but we were soon on our way.
Over the last few months at least four smaller publishers have closed their doors. All of them published anthologies and short stories, many mysteries. Dell Publishing (Ellery Queen, Alfred Hitchcock, and more) changed hands. Nearly two hundred people signed up for the Zoom conference to talk about writing and where to submit. The competition is spiking. Short story writers need every advantage they can get. Watch the Zoom call to find out how to position your stories for the best outcome – and acceptance!
