Editor’s Choice August 2022

Take a minute to sign up for the Untreed Reads affiliate program. Tour the updated website. Print books are always 25 percent off list price, or check out ebooks.

By signing up for the program, you’ll earn 10 percent of the net purchase whenever someone uses your link to make a purchase of a paperback, hardcover, or large-print title through their website. This includes your own purchases. It’s a great way to earn a little extra money for yourself or your organization while supporting an independent press and its authors.

Important note: The affiliate payments do NOT come out of authors’ royalties. Untreed Reads makes all payments out of their own pockets.

Payments are made once you’ve accumulated $20 in affiliate revenue. Untreed keeps track of everything so you don’t need to.

Please use the registration form. Once your account is approved, they’ll send you all the information you need to build links. It’s very easy, and you’ll get up and running in no time. If you have any questions, please email Jay at general@untreedreads.com.

If you are a nonprofit, please email Editor-in-Chief Jay Hartman jhartman@untreedreads.com for a special program designed just for you with an even higher affiliate rate.

Breaking down BookTok: What brands can learn from this social-literary phenomenon.

Do your research before joining TikTok. Reports say they harvest everything: search and browsing histories; keystroke patterns; biometric identifiers—including faceprints, something that might be used in “unrelated facial recognition technology,” and voiceprints—location data; draft messages; metadata; and data stored on the clipboard, including text, images, and videos.

BookTok is a TikTok subculture where book lovers discuss the books they can’t stop talking about.

#BookTok has over 61.9 billion views, with some individual videos reaching upwards of 100 thousand likes. As of July 17, 2022, ten of the 15 books listed on The New York Times Paperback Trade Fiction Best Seller list are #BookTok recommendations.
