The three top winners of the 12th Annual Ventura County Writers Club Short Story Contest will be presented and afforded with the opportunity to read their winning entries at the January 10 meeting of the Ventura County Writers Club (VCWC). The first-place winning entry will be published in the Ventura County Star newspaper’s Sunday edition and the first-, second-, and third-place winning entries will be published in the online edition of the paper. In addition, the winners also receive cash prizes: first place $500.00; second place $250.00; and third place $125.00. The final perk for the winners is that their stories will be published in the 2012 VCWC Anthology. After the reading, there will be a reception for the winners.

Since its formation in 1933 with four members in Ojai, the club has grown to more than 175 members and holds regular monthly general membership meetings. Members may attend, free of charge, a variety of Writers’ Workshops, groups that meet one or more times a month throughout the county to read and critique manuscripts and discuss many aspects of the business of writing.
