I’m saddened to tell you of the passing of author Ellen Reid, a WPN member, and owner of the Beverly Hills Book Awards; Indie Excellence Awards; and the Mind, Body, Spirit Awards. She was probably best known for her works as a book shepherd, helping many authors take their manuscripts to publication and gain wide recognition. She was a frequent speaker at many writer conferences.
I’ve known Ellen almost eight years and found her to be bright, funny, and a great person to lunch with, well versed on many topics. We always had lunch in Santa Barbara at an outdoor restaurant where her beloved dog, Kiki, could join us. Last November when we had lunch she was full of ideas and plans for the future. I had no idea she was ill or if she even knew.
A memorial service will be held at the Douglas Preserve in Santa Barbara on March 4 at 1:00 p.m., a fitting place, as Ellen loved to take Kiki romping through the trees overlooking the Pacific.
An obituary from the Santa Barbara Independent.
