Independent Publisher Book Awards Will Present 5,000th Medal This Year (the Ippys).
The world’s top independent authors and publishers will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 22nd annual Independent Publisher Book Awards. The contest is open to newly released, independently published books in English, and will accept entries through February 24, 2018.
The Independent Publisher Book Awards (aka the IPPYs) honor books created outside the “Big Five” conglomerate New York publishing scene. From one-book self-publishers to hundred-year-old university presses, indie publishing is diverse, cutting-edge, and not bound by the constraints of media overlords and corporate bottom lines.
The upcoming 2018 award ceremony will be especially notable for including the presentation of the 5,000th medal awarded during the program’s 22-year history. The event returns to the bright lights of Times Square and will be held at the legendary and glitzy Copacabana night club.
