LA Book Festival Report

By Kathleen Kaiser, WPN President

WPN showed up in strength at the 22nd Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Ten authors shared the booth over two days, several of them Amazon bestselling writers. We also put on display works by 15 out-of-area authors.

“Among the top joys of being an author,”  Mandy Jackson-Beverly said, “is getting to know my readers, and one of the best ways to do this is face-to-face at book fairs.  As authors and publishers, we were a mix of nonfiction and fiction in a diverse assortment of genres, an upbeat crowd, willing to help one another when needed. I look forward to participating again next year!”
“The LA Times Festival of Books was truly a great experience,” author Akilah Trinay said, “especially as an independent author. I received awesome feedback from many of the patrons and I was able to meet some awesome personalities. I look forward to more experiences like this to gain more exposure.”
I heard such an overwhelming response from authors that I’m investigating other book festivals where WPN can host a booth for our members. It’s a great cost savings to combine into one booth, and with a large booth like we shared in LA, we attracted more visitors.
Stay tuned to learn about upcoming book festival exhibit opportunities for WPN members.
